Robert Lange is a founding partner of the entertainment law firm, Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo, LLP. He represents numerous iconic motion picture and television actors, including stars of some of the most important motion picture franchises of all time, as well as well-known hosts, writers, producers and showrunners of long running hit franchises, television and motion picture production companies, and many high-level entertainment industry creative executives.
Bob’s extensive transactional experience includes over 35 years in private law practice, as well as 7 years as a senior motion picture and television executive, during which he has gained unique insights into entertainment deal making, the importance of carefully drafted contracts, and the many often unforeseen issues which can arise requiring experienced and thoughtful problem solving. Bob has extensive expertise in the fields of motion pictures, scripted and unscripted television, streaming and music. He has enjoyed decades long relationships with many clients and often provides significant business and strategic advice, in addition to legal advice. He has also been instrumental in negotiating the sale of several of his clients’ companies.
Bob’s legal career began at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp in 1980. Five years later he was named President of Empire Entertainment, an independent motion picture production and distribution company that produced over 20 pictures during his tenure and established U.S. domestic theatrical distribution operations and an extensive international sales network. He next served as Executive Vice President of Weintraub Entertainment Group, where he was the senior business executive in the motion picture, television and concert fields. Following his tenure as an executive, Bob co-founded Kleinberg & Lange in 1992 (the predecessor of his current firm). The firm has since become one of the premiere entertainment law firms in the United States.
Bob has appeared multiple times on the prestigious “Power Lawyer” list by The Hollywood Reporter, the “Super Lawyer” list by Southern California Super Lawyers magazine (including multiple times among the Top 100 Southern California Super Lawyers), Variety’s “Legal Impact Report,” “Talent Dealmaker Report” and “Deal Maker Impact Report”. He has been selected in multiple years as one of “The Best Lawyers in America” for motion pictures and television law, as well as music law, ranking him among the top lawyers in the nation. He has also earned the highest rating (“AV Preeminent”) for legal ability and ethics by Martindale-Hubbell. Bob is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and is a member of the American Bar Association, California Bar Association and Beverly Hills Bar Associations, as well as a member of the ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports.
