Candace Carlo combines years of representing A-List talent and companies in private practice with in-house experience at major motion picture studios. As a consequence of her wide-ranging experience, Ms. Carlo provides her clients with creative and skilled representation in the film, television, music, and video game industries.
Ms. Carlo’s clients include a mix of top-level talent and powerhouse production companies. She represents Academy Award and Golden Globe winning composer Hans Zimmer in multiple arenas. She has handled his composer deals for years for motion picture blockbusters including the James Bond thriller “No Time to Die,” “Dune,” “Gladiator,” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, the “Dark Knight” trilogy, “Interstellar,” “Dunkirk,” and “Blade Runner 2049” among many others. She also did Zimmer’ s deals on the animated, live action and stage play versions of “The Lion King” as well as the anthem for Major League Soccer. Ms. Carlo has handled legal matters for Zimmer’ s live performance tours around the world. She also represents 14th Street Music whose evocative music underpins numerous productions including hit video game franchises “Assassin’s Creed,” “Call of Duty” and “Skylanders,” the critically acclaimed series “The Crown,” documentaries “The Reagans” and “Where’s My Roy Cohn,” and various television and streamer productions such as “His Dark Materials,” the “Genius” series (Einstein, Picasso) and “Wheel of Time.”
In addition, Ms. Carlo represents eminent composers Henry Jackman (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Birth of a Nation”) and Heitor Pereira (“Minions,” “The Angry Birds Movie” franchises).
Ms. Carlo represents Academy Award-winning director (“Brave”)and writer Brenda Chapman in her numerous projects. She is counsel for Sofia Carson, star of the Disney film series “Descendants” as well as Michael Bay’s “Songbird” and “Purple Hearts.” Sofia has released numerous singles through her label Hollywood Records. Candace also represents Spanish language TV superstar Ana Maria Polo and her iconic show “Caso Cerrado..”
Ms. Carlo has considerable experience in the international arena, both in the U.K. and E.U. as well as the entertainment markets in China, South Korea and Japan.
Ms. Carlo is committed to community service. She is on the board of The Civics Center, an organization devoted to providing civics education and registering young people to vote. She provided legal services for HRH Prince Harry’s charity projects “Harry’s Arctic Heroes” and “Harry’s Mountain Heroes.” She has lectured at USC Law School on entertainment law, helped organize and present a symposium focused on how women of different races can work together to create inclusion and opportunity, been a moderator and panelist at the UCLA Entertainment Law Symposium, and served on panels focused on women’ in entertainment.
Prior to joining Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo, Ms. Carlo was the Chair of Greenberg Glusker’s Entertainment Department. Ms. Carlo has been included in U.S. News & World Report’s “The Best Lawyers in America,” featured in Variety’s “Dealmakers Impact Report,” Variety’s “Legal Impact Report,” Los Angeles Magazine’s “Top Women Attorneys in Southern California – Entertainment and Sports,” the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Top 75 Women Corporate and Transactional Lawyers” and Billboard’s top music lawyers. Ms. Carlo has for many years been named a Super Lawyer by Southern California Super Lawyers magazine and listed among Southern California Super Lawyers’ “Top 50 Women” including in 2021.
