Christine Cuddy was recently quoted in Josh Rottenberg’s Los Angeles Times article “Inside the increasingly competitive world of fan filmmaking: Will $1 million budgets ruin the fun?” In the article, Christine discusses how studios have reacted to fan-made films in the past, and how fair use is not always a bulletproof defense strategy against copyright infringement suits.
“If you’re saying it’s fair use, you have to comply with the fair user rules, and it’s always gray,” said Christine. “There’s no black line. People always want to know, ‘Can I do this?’ And you go, ‘Well, there’s a risk.’”
